Why Did Rickie Switch From Titleist Golf Balls?
Rickie Fowler made a big move today, switching from Titleist golf balls to Taylormade golf balls. Despite his $34 million career earnings, four career tour wins, and many appearances on US Teams including the Ryder Cup three times (while using a Titleist golf ball), Rickie made the move to the TP5x.
Quick Facts:
Rickie did some testing with the ball, and then tried the TP5x while playing with Dustin Johnson at the Ryder Cup - @Titleist, now you know who to blame!
Hasn’t thought about changing his clubs, will stick with the Cobra’s. If he switched the ball, and the clubs at the same time he wouldn’t know where to go for the fix.
TP5x launches a bit higher than the Titleist.
Rickie claims he gets more distance off the tee.
Tested using a combination of launch monitor, as well as feel in different conditions.
Rickie also tested the TP5, which had more spin - but Rickie wanted more distance.
Rickie cites a good relationship with Titleist, but has spent time with Taylormade’s VP of Global Tour Operations, Keith Sbarbaro at Medalist Club in Jupiter, FL when he was visiting with DJ. Rickie wanted something new.
Rickie will play the number 15 to honor his roots in motocross.
6 of the top 12 in the World Golf Rankings use TaylorMade’s TP5 or TP5x validating it’s superior performance.
