Unsure of what to get the golfer in your family for the holidays? Not to fear! As golf nuts ourselves, the Golfballin team put together some last minute shopping ideas for that “scratch” golfer you know and love. We also have some gifts to seriously consider staying away from, unless your golfer’s favorite TV shows are late night infomercials on the Golf Channel. Anyway...read quick. Christmas is coming!!
1. GolfNow Gift Card + Srixon Balls
You might not know what your golfer wants for clubs or gear this coming year. It can be tricky to predict what hybrid will lead them to victory in the club championship in August. One of the best alternatives is a GolfNow Gift Card. Clubs may go out of style, but you can always try a new course! With access to 5,500 courses nationwide, you can set the seeds for a weekend getaway or fun round outside of the local muni. Plus, you can purchase a sleeve of new Srixon balls for $45 and get credit towards a GolfNow gift card. Search for courses they talk about a lot and hang this one in the stocking with care.
Paying for Titleist ProV1s can be expensive, and it’s probably best to break those in once your golfer has a few practice rounds. For a ball that performs just as well and way cheaper, check out the Snell golf balls. They’re kind of a hipster approach to the ProV1 level of performance for $39. I wouldn’t be surprised if a tour player starts to put these in the bag. Plus the font and name reminds me of a Dr. Seuss story. I don’t know...Just check em out!
3. Titleist Wedge and Golf Balls
Okay, so maybe you aren’t hip enough to get Snell golf balls. You can never go wrong with a new Vokey wedge or a dozen ProV1x golf balls. With a majority of tour players putting Titleist in the bag, your player will feel like he’s competing for the US Open. Wedges run at $129 and a sleeve will cost you $50.
If they’re good enough for Jordan Spieth, they’re good enough for the golfer in your life. Under Armour has really stepped up its polo game the last few years. The fit is nice and they are flexible enough to really get after a drive. Polos will run you about $30.
Who doesn’t need a few cold ones on the golf course? It seems like an integral part of the game these days, and we’ve done a lot of research on the best bang for your buck. Yeti coolers are pretty expensive, even if they’re top of the line. Can you keep beer cold for less than $300? Answer: Yes. Check out the CaddySwag Par 6 Pack Golf Bag Cooler. For $22, you can have enough bubbly for your golfer and friends until the turn.
ALTERNATIVES:
If you’re more into the prank gift, or you have a tinkerer on your hands, here are a few gifts you should at least consider. For as much as I laughed at these gifts, I’d probably try them out.
This gift says...committed. The photo on the website says it all. I guess 10 minutes of putting per day should help, right? All yours’ for $14.
This gift is for those not strong enough or patient enough to get a tee in the ground. Who knows! Maybe the resistance really does make a difference. Test them out for $12, but I think having the tee in your pocket will be quite annoying.
There is a great infomercial showing the original HammerX driver, with host and world long drive champion Jack Hamm. It’s worth a 30 minute watch someday, but in the meantime, check out the world’s fastest driver. They say it’s “Flat like a sword and dead straight...cures every slice.” Maybe this is what we’re all missing. Make sure to write to us if it fixes your golfer’s game.
