Gregatron's POTW: The PGA Championship

It’s time for another major, golf fans...wait what?! I’m still getting used to this new schedule, but so pumped. Bethpage Black is a bear this week. A cold and rainy week has limited practice for a lot of golfers as they slog through 6 inch rough and hear the heckles of the New York sports crowds. This is a hard one to pick with so many players showing up down the stretch at the big events the last two years. Can Tiger get #16? Can Jordan complete the career grand slam? Can Rory keep the hot streak going? Lots of good story lines abound at the famed NY muni. Only in New York!

Gregatron’s Pick of the Week: Brooks Koepka

The defending champion is getting a lot of attention this week. His confidence is trotting around the media center and he’s looking for more major glory. Koepka gains 0.9 strokes per round on the field, has a win and two second place finishes this year, and has seven top-5s in his major career. I like his chances this week at one of the longest tracks in America.

Back to the Range Bro: Phil Mickelson

Lefty finished 2nd in both U.S. Opens at Bethpage Black, but the 48 year old is running out of steam. He’s still having a decent season with a win and second place finish, but his only top-25 since February was at The Masters. Beloved by NY sports fans, it’d be great to see a strong finish. I think the rough, the length of the course and the game of the 2005 champion have Phil in the broadcast booth on Sunday.
